Our Story

My name is Ethan Murphy and I started Back Forty Recordings with my Dad, Frank in Dade City, FL. Originally a barn, we transformed the space into a recording studio that still continues to grow and change over time. I started recording around age 15 out of necessity to record my own bands. That necessity developed into a passion that only grew over the years. As that passion grew, so did our knowledge and collection of equipment. We now have a great assortment of outboard gear (always expanding) and top of the line plugins to give you the sound that you are looking for.

We work with all genres of music. I grew up playing in punk and hardcore bands and have a wealth of experience in those genres. We also have plenty of experience in other genres such as indie pop, dream pop, death metal, blues, rock, and anything else you could throw at us.
